particle start frame

I'm using an expression to control the start frame on my particles so that when I change a variable on my master object all of my particles will have the proper start frame. However, my friendly neighborhood Maya doesn't like that. The value is being passed properly, but I have to manually select each particle object node and click on start frame for the value to have any meaning.

Does anyone know of a work around for this bug?

Thanks,

you could put the expression in the particle shape that says if (frame > myController.somevariable) or you could make a direct connection to it with the connection editor.

I think i understand what u want.
