This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

This sounds like fun!

My combo tuned out as "Grim Hill"

started already.....
thanks simply Maya for putting these challenges up for everyone. Great support...

I attached the first basic shape ideas I have come up with so far...simple but to show as things get tweaked as I go..

I am think of putting a heap of these cartoon bug-like characters all on and around the hill hacking into, digging and building on it...I guess that would make him grim!!

also to perhaps change the texture to rock or something and have lava and ash......not sure yet...

had some time to muck around with this...still not sure where it is going...haha...
just a few add-ons to see if the idea may work or not...

I made the bugs a little while ago..fully rigged and they look great close up too...But I had nothing to use them for...They just might come in handy for this peice!

Thanks for your comments everyone! user added image

cool user added image tribes of little potato aliens! They could all be doing something to the hill to make him look grim.

I dont think the rules permit using old work but just ask a mod to confirm.

haha...potato aliens!
They did turn out a little fatter on the render...

Yeah, I was wondering too about if its ok to use them..
I basically made them to practice character animation.thats all...They have never been used for anything...But I will check..I want to be sure I dont break any rules..
It's cool, this idea isnt solid...I just wanted to see how it may look.
Might force me to create something else which is always good for practice..user added image

afraid the rules state that all work must have been completed during the challenge time period. Sorry. Maybe you can make a new tribe of guys?

Hmmm, any ideas of what could perhaps be going here without the tripe of green dudes?

Someone wanting to build a road through it maybe, or someone wanting to mine it.

Looks cool so far, too bad about the little green men.

In the begining God created a whole lot of rigid bodies, and set some motion paths. He also set the lighting.

sounds like a good idea and that should be a fun vehicle to model. Not sure where you can get some blueprints... There are plenty of images on google though, so it shouldn't be too tough to knock something together.
