render queue?

Hi

anyone knows how to setup a render queue in maya without using a render manager? I'm using 2008 on osx - that's also why without a manager as the only free manager is Dr. Queue and you have to compile it yourself - which I don't know how to user added image

thanks for any help

don't know much about osX but for sure in windows you can create a .bat file using the text editor, just putting 'Render' command after 'Render' command - running the file will complete all the commands in the batch file you made... so if you can create something similar in osX and run it you should be ok.

oh wait but you can't do command line rendering on a mac, can you? ugh i guess i got nothin.

You can do that on a mac, but you need to save the txt file as it is then do another step

Open the command shell and go the the folder withthe file in and type chmod a=rwx filename.txt

then type ./filename.txt

Think that should do it, not as easy as just changing the extension and double clicking but should do it.

Its not really a render manager but it will process multiple files

Hi,

thank you two, I'll eventually give that a go. I was up till 3 in the morning yesterday trying to compile drqueue... A friend of mine who's quite good with linux and stuff helped me. But we didn't fet it to work yet. It's a little bit of a nightmare and I have no idea why they made it so amazingly difficult, for a noob in shell commands it's absolutely impossible to get this to work.
However I found out that nucleo pro2 can now take maya (sheke, c4d, lightwace, max, and softimage as well) in the queue. I think I'll be using that, -just a little easier to set up.
But the shell command seems good as well I'll give that a go once i've got more time.

thanks!
