This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

maya using only 1 core of Intel Core i7-920, 8x 2.67GHz

i have big troubles because when i work in maya with layout drawings consisting out of many splines it takes ages to project it on a plane or similar. when i open the taskmanager i can see that only one core of the cpu gets used and this one is used to capacity while all the others are just down at the very bottom of the graph!
i already know i can shorten render time going to "Batch Render" and this works fine. It really istnĀ“t a render issue, more a woking problem with big files.
hope to get some help soon
thx for your time.

some more infos about my pc:
Intel Core i7-920, 8x(4x?) 2.67GHz
12gb ram
2x nvidia Geforce GTX 285

As far as I know (not 100% sure) maya is not multithreaded for actual use, just for rendering. So unfortunately that means your spline operations can't use all 8 threads.

Hey mate, stwert is right. It's only possible to multi-thread certain things. Many math operations, such as projecting curves, isn't really possible at the moment.

I doubt they'd be able to. What I was trying to say was that only certain things can be run in parallel; so it might never happen.
