Software compatability

I'm interested in doing maya tutorials but I only have a maya 2013 license. Does that limit me to only doing 2013 era tutorials? Or are newer/older ones doable regardless of software version?

Of course you can follow along. Some tools may be missing, or in a different place, but if you search around a bit you should have no issue completing the tutorials done in a more recent version.
Imagination is more important than knowledge.
