Paint fur tool vs. Attribute editor

When i work with fur, i like to use both the 'Attibute Editor' and the 'Paint Fur' tool.

However, every time i have used the 'Paint fur' tool - lets say for an example on the length, it "overwrites" the possibility to modify the length in the Attribute Editor.

It is not only the length. It is also every other attribute...! :-(

Why is that?

I have tried deleting history, but that did'nt help!

Any good ideas??

ps. Sorry for also posting in the 'special effects' section. I noticed to late that there was a section for fur on it's own.!
