Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Cutting shape out of polygonal plane

Hi,

I'm trying to model an audi TT. I've got a little problem with the audi-sign at the frontside. I made the entire bonnet out of one piece (a polygon plane), but I want to cut out the shape of the plate with the audi-sign (the green thing). I can't seem to do it with a boolean operation. What should I do?
Thanks,

Jan

(P.S: I did try to do the boolean operation with a solid shape, not another plane)

Spit Polygon tool. Then just delete the faces you don't want.
