deleting a texture from an object

hi y'all,
I'm modeling a car and I put a texture on it just to fool around, but now I want to delete the texture and go on with my modeling.
Can somebody tellme how to do that?

replace it with the default shader then in hypershade go to edit/delete unused nodes to clear them from the scene or sumit like that user added image
