Little problem with extruding curved faces

I don't run into this often, but it's pretty much the only continuity issue that I've never been able to figure out how to get around.

Basically I need to put a vent in this dashboard, but it has a bevel around it and some odd curves.

Pictures pretty much describe the problem I'm having. Just cant seem to stop the extruded part from jutting out, where as I need it all flat. But, I also need it to keep the shape of the main dashboard section, which you can see on the left of the pictures

You can see the reference in the second picture to get an idea of what I need to do

you have modelled half a square and you want it to be half a circle. I think you need to add more geometry.

No, I need it to be a square with rounded corners in the end, but that isn't the problem. The problem is that the area to the left of the hole is getting pushed back because there isn't enough edges up top, but I cant really add more edges, because I need it to hold the current curvature overall
