
I have started a new project to query my learned skills from various sources.
This time I'm trying to UV Layout this faces on a cylindrical shell:

To layout the UV's I've tried the two Methods which come into question: Planar and Cylindrical Mapping ( in Planar I've tried to map from X and also from Y axis):
Then I cut the Edge alonge the Shell to unfold the overlaying Layout:

Last but not least I've selected the UV Shell an tried to unfold. Unfortunatly the Layout keeps up its shape.
Even when I choose Unfold from the dropdown Menu in the UV Texture Editor nothing happens.
Can anyone give an advice for the incompentce on this Issue?
