To be honest I wouldn't buy instruments like guitars without trying them out...

Funny enough, I'm just in the midst of modeling my own guitar.

It's a handcrafted instrument that was built for me by a friend of mine, who is a professional luthier.

I picked all the woods and pieces on my own.

If you're into acoustic guitars (I don't play electric anymore) and want to have a looksee: https://www.acoustic-guitars.de/eng/start_e.html

Here's the model I just started:

Hey, that is some nice work. Sorry for taking so long to respond, but seriously that guitar is going to look amazing when you texture it.

Thanks!

I definitely hope so! I'm almost done laying out the UVs, then it's on to Photoshop. At least PS is a software I know a bit better than Maya...

We'll see.

Hi!

Thought I'll keep you updated.

Here are some new pictures, showing the state of my little affair...

Note that these are still intermediate images. Not all textures are finished yet, and I haven't even started to think about a lighting setup.

With the exception of the abalone parts on the headstock, all the textures are handpainted (I always seem to suffer from parkinson when I try to take detail photos for texture reference).

I'll post more pics when I'm done with the lady.

Funny enough, that's just what I wanted to say: a left-hand guitar. Right is what I play. Got it all messed up again...time to sleep!

Hey,

that is great work
all of you modeling guitars did a great job.
I'm working on my guitar.
I dont have a working camera right now, cuz I let a friend borrow it, but I have a Fender Stratocaster and a Gibson 1961 SG.
Might post pics later on, but i will post the render of the guitar.
