In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

I have started working on this dragon project, this is what I got so far:

Then I applied the shading:

Then I got the rest of the dragon done:

I was wondering if there was a way of making some sort of scale bump map that would go along certain areas of the dragon

I came along another pb

I was wondering, if there was a way of just turning the dragon around. I think he wont let me turn the root joint because it is also an Ik handle. I am not sure if thats the pb, any help would greatly be appreciated. Here is the rig and the wireframe if it helps:

parent all of the joints to a root joint, and turn the root joint around

What are you using to model this? Poly's or Nurbs?

I am using polys, and all of the joints are parented under the root joint at the neck/back area, where I also put an Ik handle.

another question I have, is if there was an envelope tool for maya that would work kind of like the one in 3ds max, because the paint tool makes the scene lag a lot.

to align the polys, I used the vertixes, and then to smooth them afterwards, I went to the modeling menu, under polygons then smooth.

I dont like thsoe little plant twigs, so I'll try and change them into something different. The dragon sticks out cuz I didnt start playing with the bone structure yet, cuz it is not properly skinned.
