Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

modeling capitolio building

hey guys, ived been bored lately because im having a break from modeling heads... lol but ill get back into that soon, soo ived started on something much easier to get rid of all the stress ived had lately user added image soo ived started to create the capitolio building in havana. ived strarted the top part already which took me a couple of hours suprisingly.

yeah, nice work marlon - that's looking really cool so far. Are you working from blueprints? This should be a cool project.

@acid - thanks acid, im gonna try to make the detail my best priority.

@arran - thanks arran user added image ermm i coudnt really get the actual blueprints of the place, ehehe... but ived got about 20 pictures of capitolio building from different angles and all round it. soo ived kind of created a 3d image in my head of the place itself user added image yeah hopefully this should be a cool project and i cant wait to finish it.

hey guys, sorry that i havnt been posted anything today. i have spent all day trying to work out how to do the bottum bit of the building but have encounted so many problems. but i have now figured them all and no where i should start etc, so i will be posting some more progress tomorrow in the afternoon, thanks

Looking good. Only crit I have is that the dome looks a little elongated.

thanks for the reply dutch, yeah the dome is abit too long/streched in y axis.. i will fix that up on the weekend user added image

hey guys, heres a quick update of what i have done on the bottum floor. i will be posting some later on tonight of the 2nd level neally finished user added image

the rendered pictures are just the windows which i have done, i will do the steps and all the other little features when i finish the windows on the first and second floor. user added image

thanks gster, yeah hopefully it will be good when i finish it lol.. hahaha i should try that, after i finish the model, i should try and learn how to explode things by learning dynamics and particles etc. thanks for the tip lol user added image

heres some updates of the building, wanted to post them couple of hours ago but my net went down.. ived neally finished the 2nd level at the front. it dosnt really look like it yet but after the texturing and that, i hope sure it will look good, cheers guys .. marlon user added image
