How to animate duplication?

Can someone tell me how to animate duplication? Like if I had a logo that I wanted to duplicate to form a long row and then animate the row growing and shrinking in numbers.

Thanks in advance!

One way to achieve this would be to place instances of the logo where they would be in the final animation and animate the visibilities of them. If you want to get a little geeky you could add custom attributes to the instances for setting up the frame range when it would be visible and let an expression handle the visibility toggling.
