Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Challenge/competition idea

Seeing as though its the latest 'in' movie, how about doing an Avatar related comp??

Create/Mix your face with that of a James Cameron Avatar....best Avatar- a- like wins??? Dunno what the prize could be but I'd gladly judge it and supply the head mesh...

what does admin think?

I think at least a few people (myself included) could get on board with this idea!

Only Zbrushing or what ?

I think building base mesh + zbrushing is more challenging than you to support a mesh ... dunno just opinion user added image

Jay, this sounds like a nice idea to me. We could give away some points as a prize if there's an interest.

Nilla: Cool, well lets see how many people are up for it then we can go from there.

Chirone:
Yeah the base is already done: its Human so you'd have to move the ears up

Coldwave:
Not necessarily, the idea I have is to present the model, that looks like yourself as an Avatar. theres no limit to the software because not everyone will have Zbrush or Mudbox, as long as it looks like you crossed with the Avatar then it can be done however. I may just limit it to maya only. That will test people LOL

Kurt:
yeah but using the supplied mesh LOL otherwise you have a head start already

LoZ: Great mate.

kirk out....

Just a quick thought, I'll move the ears to the appropriate area like the Avatars, just to get it going....once there is enough interest that is.

I might be interested in this... would the supplied mesh work if I wanted to try mudbox only? I haven't used mudbox much (don't have zbrush) but I'm eager to gain some techniques with it.
