Ok so I'm new.

OK so I'm a beginner to Maya and 3D modeling. Will some people help me in getting started with this?
I've experimented and done some freestyle stuff but nothing like the stuff you guys got on here.

Thanks ahead of time.

Post some of the stuff you have done so people can get an idea of what level your at. After that they might be able to point you in the right direction.

Nothing really just a couple of cubes, spheres and played around with human IK.
I just started, don't even know what IK means.

I'm mainly a web page builder.user added image

I'm mainly looking into human, creature, vehicle and landscape modeling and animation.

I know it sounds a lot and I don't know if it's all possible with Maya alone.
But I am willing to learn.

All possible with Maya, just gotta search around for the right tutorials for each

Basics

Maya Tutorial: Basics part 1 of 5 - YouTube

This is what just about everyone starts with for car modeling

https://www.3dm3.com/tutorials/maya/350z/

This should help you get a grip on character modeling

https://www.3dm3.com/tutorials/maya/character/

Environment modeling is a pretty vague subject, so I can't really help there. Depends on the type of environment

And creature modeling is pretty much an extension of human modeling, in the sense that is uses the same techniques (as far as I know)

Wow! Thanks a lot Acid. I will work on this, and practice on it.

Can you explain more about terrain and why it's so vague?
Any thing on full body modeling?

uhhh... you know maya comes with tutorials right...?
you should do those first before you get into other tutorials because it's up to date with the current version of maya you're using.
You might end up picking up an old tutorial where the interface is slightly different and you'll end up confuzzled but if you had done the basic tutorials that come with maya you wouldn't be so confuzzled! user added image

that's a "Ch" pronounced as a "K"

Computer skills I should have:
Objective C, C#, Java, MEL. Python, C++, XML, JavaScript, XSLT, HTML, SQL, CSS, FXScript, Clips, SOAR, ActionScript, OpenGL, DirectX
Maya, XSI, Photoshop, AfterEffects, Motion, Illustrator, Flash, Swift3D

Getting straight into organic/character modeling is extremely hard! Learn the basics first. Create, for example, a spaceship, car, alien, then a character. With a realistic character, it's very subtle, and you'll just get frustrated and burn out if you just jump right into it.

You can also search things like youtube. https://www.youtube.com/results?searc...+tutorial&aq=f

If you're going to excel in 3d, you need to learn how to search for your answers first user added image We're here if you get stuck!

To add a bit to what he said, modeling a few hands is a great way to get used to how things react when you add edge loops, a hand's got all sorts of edges
