need help!!

hey iam new to this website and also to maya. iam trying to make a treasure chest
but i cant find the ''HOLLOW'' option to make my rectangle empty in the inside.
can anyone please help on how can i find this HOLLOW option?

Pick top face, pick extrude tool, click 'r' (scale down), click 'q', click 'g' and move the vertical arrow down..

I agree that you should look at some basics tutorials. There is no "hollow" option, although there are a number of ways to achieve your desired output. Nov2011 is describing making a cube, and then extruding the top face down to simulate the hollow area.
