Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Hello newcomer here, question about 'faces' and their showing

Hello, I have been using maya making things for 2 weeks now, I have been UV mapping recently, and I assumed, I should be somehow disabling the texturing/showing of internal faces, to save on rendering cost etc.

Is this something we do?

Cheers user added image

That's not necessary. The surface normal of a face tells the renderer if that face is visible to the camera. If it's not, or the face is behind another, then it simply doesn't render it.

Imagination is more important than knowledge.
