[Maya/Vray] - Maya's native water texture

I think there might be some compatibility with Maya's native water texture and Vray. It renders simply as noise when placed in the diffuse of a VrayMtl when it should render as a ripple. Could someone confirm or prove this wrong?

I figured I'd post in the newbie lounge in case I was completely missing something here. Seems straight forward enough, but for some reason it's not rendering correctly.
