coloring help

heyy...
i just started with maya about 2 weeks ago and i finally can make some simple things in maya.. not that big pictures but some of the basic i found on youtube..
now i have some few problems and i hope u guys could help me out. i have been looking on google but i cant find it..

here's my first problem..
when i have my plane/spaceship looking thing finished i only see the basic color red.. ** thats what i ment to do** but no details
how do i get some details in it. like cool decals or windows. I also dont know how to get more colors in it. i got one basic color. Red in this ship..

i realy have no idea whot to do or how to get it out..
plz help me

if you want to add details like decals, scratches, dirt and so on, you will need to learn about texutre mapping, and adding windows, headlights etc you will have to practice your modeling, there are tutorials here and dozens of places on the net. good luck user added image
