Falcon

Great detail man....really great..!! Rendering needs some tweaking..also the light setup, but with such a great model you can create EVERYTHING !! Just play around a bit...

Two thumbs up !!!

Haha I am slightly color blind, but also somewhat ignorant to coloring of things.

I really appreciate the last comments on the color setting and rendering!!!

undseth your falcon model is great, can`t wait to see new improvements.
I`m a big SW fan i`ve modeled a AT-ST, X-Wing, Tie Fighter and started a millenim falcon but never finished it.
I like very much what the look you your work

Whow, lots of smaller things to do...

Thanks again guys!
Well, i never got to start one the backside on the disc's; I saw some more pics and then I did some changes.

1) Cockpit done for the third time
2) Disc shape improved
3) The thing/shape Roman pointed out was way to big, it is now made thinner, and would barely be visible in a new comparison (never bothered to do it again, because I "found out" that the "lenses" in Maya contra Lucasfilm are different somehow, I'm not sure why). (I dont care to fiddle with the camera right now)
4) Landing wells done over
5) Scaled "escape-pods" down and made a new "casing".
Hmm. seemes like i "must" buy myself a new pizza user added image

He, he luistlf, I love your models (especially the x-wing), I though that i would stay away from bigger models, but now I want to make an x-wing and then *sigh* a "rebel" Corvette.

I wonder!!! Is this a complex/big file ???

I dont think so (9.8 Mb save-file) , but Maya threw me out recently, due to some memory error. I guess i can come over this, but i wonder if any of you can tell me if this is too heavy/big on my machine.

I have a PIII, 600 Mhz, 384MB sdram, 500 MB Virtual Memory.

Heres what maya tells me in a full render of all items;

Rendering current frame.
Frame triangle count: 213671
====================================
Resource Usage At End Of Frame
====================================
21674 Page faults
142.504 Mb Max resident size
170.879 Mb Peak total size(Estimated)
90.810 Mb Peak arena size
====================================
170.891 Mb Current
6.563 Mb Data Blocks
16.875 Mb MEL
2.991 Mb Transforms
0.489 Mb Render Geometry Arena
0.250 Mb NURBS Surface Shapes
6.500 Mb NURBS AG
56.667 Mb Render Cache
0.313 Mb NURBS Geometry Cache
0.652 Mb Pixel Map

On the complex/big file issue I won't say anything since it's all relative. But I would get some more RAM. I have 640 megs and I got some low memory warnings too with my head project (I need a new computer user added image). Virtual memory is no good. It's too slow for any kind of 3d work since it's just swapping between the HD and RAM as required (the HD is the bottleneck here).

Gonna do some serious work today.

A little update.

I tried to set virtual memory to:
Min 32 MB
Max 480 MB

but Maya crashed each time I used the poly tools.

So I set window's virtual memory, back to:
Min 480 MB
Max 480 MB

And now, Maya is working again user added image

And...

"Engines"

The glow here isnt "right".

Glow material is combined with something called surface-shader.
