Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Turntable

Started making a Turntable...here is, what i have so far..don't care about the materials, haven't finished texturing yet...just a rendertest...

About the Model:

mainly Nurbs
some few PolyParts

Curious about the texturing around the actual platter (underneath the black rubber mat). Did you make the texture from a photo of a real Technics 1200?

Well, actually, there's nothing textured at all...just simple procedural shaders out of maya ,and the part you are speaking of is actually, well....modeled....;O)))

Will post a wireframe of that, as soon as i get home....and yes...I've seen the thread....great modeling, texturing aso.....but had to create my own,due copyright laws u know....

Underwater

Tried some Ocean Shader Settings, because the Turntable had to be under water, as I've mentioned before....still isn't finished..but not that far away ;O))

I really like the underwater effect. Actually I was looking for just that effect in a project of mine, and I havent succeeded yet, maybe you can shed some light (no pun intended) on how to make the lightfog look like that.
