Trouble rendering with mental ray

Hi all!

So I'm trying to render out a character that I made in maya using Mental Ray, but I'm having some problems- there are weird shadows around the character that I can't remove. Anybody know if there's a simple fix for this? shadows are shown in the picture

One thing that might be causing it is if you've accidentally duplicated the model or some faces but if it's not that I couldn't possibly say. If you upload the scene file I'd be more than happy to take a look for you though.
