more help plz

ive downloaded a few models and when i render a pic it sometimes shows up completely black :headbang: its really annoying and theres probably a simple solution but like my other post says im a newb but any response is a good one:bow:

which renderer do you use?
lights in the scene?
default lights on?
geometry is poly or subD?
objects -> primary visibility on?


everything starts and ends in the right place at the right time.
