Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Switch off drawing on the grid

First post w00t!
So anyways I have Maya 8.5, and I noticed that you have to draw your objects instead of when you create something like a sphere on Maya 7, its automatically created for you. But on 8.5, you have to draw it on the grid.

So my question is, how do you switch this feature off?

This "feature" was part of the new autodesk era, and is found in 3ds max...

In the modelling menu set go to Polygons and untick Interactive Creation, also repeat this for NURBS (Surfaces in the menu, if I remember correctly).

Enjoy
