Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Oedipus's Nightmare_WIP...

Hi,

Have tweeked the head and given Oedipus's mother a body. Breasts need to sag more. When finished she will be dressed in High heels, fishnets and maybe a corset and hopefully looking seductive as hell......

'Whos your moma"........

Critz please.

Wow, I want to be able to produce this kind of modeling!

Feel free to post tips Jim!

For critique, the hand itself is propably too long. The lower arm is a tad too long but not much.

Enough of that user added image

Please, tell us your approach to make... say the face. Is it as simple as making a low-poly-count object and smooth it, or is it more refined?

Oedipus an Update and wire.

Hi,

Here is an update. Have been busy trying to redo the chest, and some of the head (nose, cheeks).

Have also added stockings and panties.

Is she heading in the right direction?

I don't understand that wireframe. It looks smoothed, `yet the face count is low, is this body a result of the use of the simple smooth tool?

Very nice! Looks like SubDs to me?

Don't know what it is but I think her face looks a bit maleish...

I agree the face looks male! Things to consider:
raise the eye brows, with a more pronounced arc
raise and accentuate the cheek bones
taper the jaw line
decrease the distance between the nose and the upper lip

The muscle detail in the body is excellent!

Yep, to me this looks like a old lady user added image.. great job! This is superior modelling. Now all the wireframes are before smoothed right? Oh and undseth, which arm is the "lower arm"?!?.

re Oedipus's Nightmare _WIP....

Hi,

Here is another update.

I have scaled down the head slightly, fixed the hands, reworked the arms and added some shoes.

I also reworked the area around the collar bone.

Feedback please.

Hahaha, Undseth, sorry man... Must of been late or something, lower arm is perfectly descriptive of the lower part of the arm user added image.... i wasnt thinking period! My fault. As for the latest update.... awesome, looking better and better! The question is, how much better can it get?

Oedipus's nightmare....a pose.

Hi,

Thanks for all the imput so far.

I have begun testing the mesh with rigging to see how it deforms. I noticed that the arms and neck are slightly too long also. Did anyone else notice this?

Anyway, here is a pose (something silly and dramatic) rendered from different angles.
