Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

polys to subs to nurbs

OK, I am here again with most-likely a moronic question. What would cause a surface to be inable to convert?

I have a poly table, slightly smoothed, no history, and I can not convert it to subs?

;(

I am baffled? What should I look for to be the cause of this?

Thanks!

I finally have started my first 3d scene in the WIP section. This site rocks

select the polygon and go to polygon menu>cleanup. Sub division require specific information to generate correctly. Polygon Cleanup removes invalid and extraneous geometry.

you may also need to increase the max number of faces (I think that's the param) in the convert to subdivs menu options box.

ok, I ahe gotten my poly to subs, but now it won't convert to nurbs... Is there a cleanup for subs before converting to nurbs?
I have an oval table, and I just want the edges to be smooth.

Try and not smooth the poly at all at first. Then convert to subs then nurbs, but why do you want a "nurbs" table??
