Dec/Jan - Noob - MarkeMark

I have never tried my hand at low poly game art before so here goes nothing.

If you have heard of the game Eve Online then you might know what I'm going to do for this challenge.

In the game you see some very beautiful space scenes and some imaginative / well textured space craft. Click here to see what I mean.

So I am aiming to create an original design for a space station and maybe a space craft (or two) to fly into it.

Sketches to follow soon...

Thanks Dae,

You might as well not enter this time as I'm going to win hands down. LOL

Good luck!

Initial drawing

My initial drawing for the space station which also includes a flood lit surface with anti gravity shield to emulate Earth's atmosphere.

Loads more detail needed yet, but it's a start.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year all!

Now that Christmas, New Year and all that drinking/eatting is over I can concentrate on my model.

I have started by getting the basic shape and proportions correct.
The rest will be madeup as I go along.

Elo Mark. Happy 5002 to you as well .)

Cool concept going on here. Haven't played Eve Online meself but the screenshots were very nice. Bet those don't do the game justice as they're static. Probably grand in game.

Anyway, great start.

I have used a bump map for the land area.
Is it ok to use bump maps?

bump maps are fine.

I suggest making the land area much more interesting... mountains, forests, rivers, waterfall, etc. That's the big cool thing about this idea and it'd be neat to see it fully realized. user added image Maybe even a tiny village!

Cheers Mike,

I'll see what I can do in the time left.

BTW, your book should be on my doorstep this week, so I hope it'll help with my texturing.
