Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Help : Boolean Problem

I really didn’t want to have to make a post user added image but i really can’t seem to see the answer to the problem,

Basically i'm doing Kurts "Tree Frog" tutorial and i seem to have hit a snag with the Boolean operation for the fingers. Anytime i try to do a Union both parts vanish user added image

Ive attached the scene just incase, any help would be much appreciated

Thanks

Looked at the file the problem looks like the edges that you have extruded for the hand are not kept together. Make sure you have keep faces together checked so when you extrude they will stay together. Its under polygon> tool options> keep faces together.

Also where the shoulder was connected you had some faces sticking out towards the center grid that where not merged.

I got booleans to work after I fixed them first try.

Here is the fixed file. I havent cleaned up the geo yet but the finger are together.

I'm doing Kurt's Cartoon Dog tutorial, and I've encountered boolean problems. I've tried searching the forum and working with what people have previously said. I ran into issues when combining the head and neck, neck and chest, but managed to get around those.

I can't seem to shake the problems now in trying to union a leg. This seems like a common but tricky problem so I figure it's a question worth asking. I don't think I had keep faces together as I was tweaking stuff, does this mean I should just go back to the NURBS model and start from there again? My file is attached incase anyone wants to take a look.

Also, I tried cutting things in half, and I have a few verts that aren't exactly on the 0 grid line, is there any way to move these to the exact edge to fix overlap, or is that solved later when mirroring and merging verts? Thanks!
