Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

One year for filming? Wince, ouch,,,,NNNNOOOOOOO. It could never be that good in that short of time. No time to reconfigure stuff that does not go right. That is the worse sign so far. THis could kill the franchises. Are the storries that dead that they could only get a second rate director? Do they not want to spend the money? Are they that blind to not realize that we will all come out of the woodwork to see Aliens or AvP done by Cameron or Scott. No matter how much money they want to do it, it will be worth it and will get great returns.

You would think that with all the trouble they had to get the licensing for it they would have gotten somebody top notch like Scott or Cameron to direct it.

I hate when things turn to straight business. They know they will get the returns due to the name of both franchises. They do not have to spend the money on acting and directors. They figure if they though in enough CG it will be fine. It never is but they will make there money.

Yeah, which is a terrible shame because both Scott and cameron have stated interest in Alien 5. cameron has even went so far to say that he would likely just forget Alien 3 and 4.

Just saw this over at Planet AvP...

ALIEN QUADRILOGY

Seems like a re-release of the boxed DVD set with the exception that ALIEN is the directors cut that was released on October 31.

Wouldn't mind picking it up, but I already got the first boxed set with all the cut scenes in the extras. How different can it be? user added image

that new trailer made me alot happier. The first one was only a bunch of images from the original movies; what's the point of that? And it got me VERY scared, not because aliens or predators are scary, but because I've always loved the original 3 aliens and 2 predators, and I would hate it if they messed up this new one (which it seemed like was going to hapen when I saw the first trailer) This second trailer gave me a little hope. Just a little bit though. I really hope it turns out fine.

Well, it's looking good so far. Although, the ALIEN symbol in the ceiling could have been more original than to just swipe it from the DVD cover.

Ehh... We'll see.

I saw the show about the animatronics used in the movie. I love CG but I think that people sometime forget that you should have both done really well. They movie pretty fluid and the disgns looked clean.

The only thing that still gets to me it the mouth piece only shoots out like two feet. Look at the original by Giger people. Does no one realize the whole piont was to be like the lizards that can shoot out a distance and grab food. The thing has become a gag now and does not have much use. That erks me every time I see it. Well if that is the only thing that gets me I will be happy. I still have my doubts. It was just made to quick. I am sure if you have a good script right of the bat you could pull it off but I am not very hopefull. Most video games took longer to make. Think about it.

Well... If you watched closely in one of the Preditor movies we see who wins because there is the full skeleton of an alien in the trophy room on the Preditors ship.
