Choosing Maya As Your Primary or Only App

Are any of you people who choose Maya as your primary or only software for 3D? Do you feel that you've made greater progress in Maya by focusing on just that?

I am so conflicted, wanting MoGraph-style effects, but wanting to only use Maya. I know C4D to a lesser degree, but am a bit stretched and feel that focusing on one will benefit my learning.

*raises hand*. While I poke around other software, Maya is my main. I guess motion graphics are more readily achievable in C4D through presets? Anyways, it's definitely something Maya can do as well, especially with it's dynamics system and set driven keys and of course MEL and Python at the user's disposal.

If you feel like you're stretching yourself too thin, you probably are. Burnout is not fun.

Awesome response, Gen. I agree with you.

It's like I feel that there are two mountains -- Maya and other software. I can remain near the bottom by trying to climb both mountains, or I can get further climbing one.

It's a risk as the other may benefit me, but it's not my primary job responsibility nor my passion. I feel that others with a passion in C4D will out-perform me anyway. So I'll continue being familiar with it, but knowing that Maya can also do what C4D can (through different methods) is great knowledge.
