modelling a head

I recently tried to model a head.

First i drew an image and got it scanned. After that i created a nurb sphere with half sweep.

Now i made a basic shape. In order duplicate and attatch, is it possible with nurbs or should it be converted to poly`s.

convert to polys, and add detail in polys(best method) then duplicate

thanks for that.

I am using maya6. When I convert a nurbs object into poly`s then after adding detail, i wanted to convert into nurbs for painting .

In the modify->convert options there is no such option of converting poly to nurbs.

What shall i do.

polys to sub-d's, sub-d's to nurbs(although nurbs arent good for that, it will turn it to patches

yeah i tried to do that.

IT has been converted into subd`s little difficultily. To convert it into nurbs the system is crashing.

It is because that(i think) there is much detail in the face.

If i reduce and then try, i am losing the detail.

Please help me out with this.
