Good training books?

Hi, I'm pretty new to the whole maya scene and i was just wondering what are some good books/movie tutorials that i could pick up?

I've been looking at some training videos, the learning maya books , and Maya 6 foundations. I just want some recomendations for some good begginner books. I've completed the tutorials that came with maya and pretty much know the basics (extruding faces, revovle tool, lofttool, sculptsurfacestool etc...).

Thanks

I'd say, don't waste your time on books, buy some points from here and download some of the tutorials, it's a much better way to learn. There's some amazing tutorials at Simply Maya.

yeah i like the tutorials here better than any books I've looked at. I started modeling again and tutorials here rules. Books make you ZzzzZZzz, and dont really show you how to model, just how to use the tools. But I just bought The Complete Reference Maya 6 book for class. The author of this book was a teacher of mine about a year and a half ago and I thought he was really good. Its the recommended book for my next semester class. user added image

If your going to get a book for characters, get maya character animation second edition. it covers every thing from polys to sub-d's to rigging and to uving.
