This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i
I was inspired by DJblazers little lego project that he did a while back, and another lego project that I saw over on another site, and I've decided to do one myself, purely for fun (and coz lego is cool!) Unfortunately, I'm doing a police vehicle too (like blazer, but I've asked his permission so he doesn't think I'm copying him) - it was the only non-star wars related lego set in Woolworths I could get my hands on!!
I'm going to do it properly, and build it up block by block like you really would. I'd like some ideas on how I could show the car being built up....I'm not sure on this part. At the mo I'm just modelling the blocks though, here's what I've got so far:
Here's the underside - I'm trying to do it as detailed as poss, as its not a very difficult project to do (sorry, the pics seem a bit darker than I thought they would be??)
hehe it looks good. Especially the bottom side of the part looks like really accurate modelling.
I think it helps a lot that you have the real life 'car' to really model all the seperate parts well in maya. I have seen other lego maya projects, but very few show the actual lego blocks and parts. I'm looking forward to see how it will all fit together and look like when it's more finished.
I guess you texture mapped the 'LEGO' sign on every knob?
Keep it up!
I know it was stupid, but I did actually model the lego word on the bricks instead of using a texture map. I made one brick, then instanced it (but I then combined all the objects into one brick, so I don't think the instances count any more, so the poly count will be high) I should have used a displacement map I guess, but this way was quick, and I don't mind about high poly limits. I'm going to do the next brick tonight I think.....
Not in the same league, but my 5 year old son built these using Lego Digital Designer. Great tool if you want to see what sort of Lego Parts are available.
Lol, your 5 year old puts me to shame, Paul!! Does that program build the blocks for you, then allow you to put them together into models or something?? I think there's quite a few plugins out there for lego.
Just been checking out you spitfire thread, hurry up with the updates, I want to see more!! Its looking really nice
I've never actually used it myself, but from what I can tell it has a list of different lego parts and all the blocks are pretty much already built. I think you can even put together build sequences etc.
The spitfire came to a grinding holt after my ATI card and Maya had a falling out I now have a new Graphics Card so hopefully some more updates this week.
My son just saw your Lego and asked if he could use the program you're using
cool idea lisa. . .have you ever been to one of the lego shows? or the lego area at disney world. i have seen some amazing lego models there. anyway, will be awaiting your finished model.
I did a little bit over the weekend, but not much because the weather was soooo good!! Sorry for the harsh shadow, I'm not that great at lighting and rendering
