Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

quadro FX3400 or GF 6800

Hi all I've been using my GF 6800 with Maya and all seems fine but I have just started my own business and need to get the best of my machine. I'm going to upgrade to dual core blah blah blah but should I change my GF 6800 card to Quadro FX3400?
Would there be much of a difference when it comes to rendering out all those frames?

Cheers
Steve

Thanks Tubby - I hadn't seen this review. I've just upgraded from a Quadro FX 500 to the FX 3400 (just arrived yesterday so not installed yet). I'm hoping for great things.....

Hi Keef,
Yeah it sure sounds good I'm in the process of ordering myself, would be good to hear some of your feedback as to its performance, maybe share info on setup!

Hi Stephen

As I say, just received the card yesterday (new - unused - through e-bay). It didn't come with a supplimentary power cable - I've been looking for a pdf manual specifically for the 3400 but no luck so far...

I'll let you know of progress, when I can.

best

Keith

Supplimentary power cable?

You're generally supposed to plug it to the powerunit's spare harddrive cable... Unless my GeForce FX5700 (softmod QuadroFX 1100) is different... I doubt it though.

Well I have gone and bought a Quadro FX 4400, it's a beast of a card and very quite. No problems with massive scenes in Maya in hardware texture mode. I even ran the new game demo FEAR with eveything set to the highest settings in the game options x16 anti alising......no problem!
Oh well then lets get to work!#
