Plz help :)

Hey 2 all u Maya pplz... Maya Rocks:attn:

Anyway i've got abit of a problem.. c i'm a noob at maya so i'm still experimenting with new things and i need 2 make a solar system with planets 4 an online game, but wen i put a texture on the 1st planet everything works fine, wen i apply another texture 2 another planet it apears all blocky and streched. i wouldnt hav the slightest idea about texture sizes but the textures i'm using are 2500x1250 pixels.. and why is it that when u apply a glow or a texture it automaticaly applies it 2 all objects not jus the one u select?

If any1 can help it would b much appreciated

Look into spherical mapping for the sphere.

This is just a quick, off the top of my head way and may well be wrong.

In your viewport go to panels -> saved layouts -> Persp/UV Texture Editor
This will let you see whats going on better.

Select the sphere in your perspective viewport, go to edit polygons -> texture -> spherical mapping. Little controls will now show around the sphere and can be moved about to get the desired mapping. You will have to read/do a tutorial to learn these better.
As you move them you will be able to see the spherical UV map in the right hand viewport.
When finished go to UV snapshot and save the file out. This will be used to texture your sphere.

Add your texture to the image and save it ready for importing.

Finally add a new lambert material to your sphere and apply the newly painted texture to it.

Thats similar to how I've recently been mapping my samurai and dragon (planar maps though).
Cool that it worked and good luck with the project user added image
