Texturing problem

Whenever I try to apply the texture to my UVw map editor, I end up getting something awful looking like this The color map is supposed to look like this but I don't know how to import this texture into the UVW map editor correctly.

update :I managed to fix the blurring and general disfiguring problem by clicking the UV texturing baking on/off button in the UVW map edtior but I still can't correct the major problem which is scaling down/moving the face texture into the actual face UV map. Anyone have any ideas?

Would anyone be willing to make a video on how to apply textures to the UV map because all the tutorials online are very bad and they expect me to read their minds.
