Adobe Illustrator paths - importable?

Okay...I have found out enough about Maya to understand that it is the software to do what I need it to do...but one question....and this is purely out of interest...the information I seek isn't critical...But can Maya import vector paths from Illustrator as an editable object that allows the user to well..errr use said converted vector path?

As I mentioned...curiosity rather than necessity. but if it does then whoopi doo! Once again, my thanks
