Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Adding a custom shader to shader library + load by default?

Hi,

I was just wondering how you add a particular shader you've made as a default shader, so that every time you open Maya it's available, even in a new project or something?

I haven't come across a way inside the UI, but its probably possible through editing some of the UI mel scripts.

One (nasty) way to do it, is to do it on your lambert1 shader. This will make all new objects have this material, and will be loaded by default.

Imagination is more important than knowledge.
