Light though glass

I have made glass cylinder and wanted to have light inside them, pretty much as you see on christmas lights, I have made a light inside the cylinder and the problem is the light is not showing through the glass like it should, how do i make it do that?

Ok after further testing it, it wasn't excactly what I was looking for, this only works if the objects that should emit the glow is intersecting with other objects which it isn't in my case, so you have anymore good ideas pls throw them my was, any help would be highly appreciated

What do you mean? It's completely impartial to the geometry.

no if you look through the tutorial video, if he removes the plane the wire is placed upon there's no glow what so ever

A surface shader on the other hand worked

for just a glow effect when your in your shader lambert/blinn whatever go to special effects and set the glow (also set the colour of the glow for your lights colour) user added image

Glow isn't physically accurate. It just overlays a blur on your object.
