Help with my first WW1 Helmet mesh

Hello,

I'm a beginner with Maya and i try to modelise my first WW1 helmet.

Unless a simple model i must confess that i embarrassed with it !

I started with a polygon sphere but don't know how continue the shape.

If someone could give me the better way to well finishing the shape please.

The trouble you have there is your front reference photo is distorted where it looks like the brim sticks out at the side but it does not as much................dave

You could select the faces on the side and scale them in so that they don't stick out as much as they do now.

Its a very good call as there are some good books out there for all levels of Maya user or should I say 3d artists. So post up links for books you may have read or want to get an opinion on one before you buy it....
