In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

a bunch of stuff that'll prob. never get finished

ok im going to make a racetrack of some sort but i dont know whether i should make a) a le mans type track like laguna seca or ummm... that one in italy ...or b) a rally track

the car i make will depend on the track, if its a rally track i make then it will be a lancia stratos, if its a regular le mans type tracki would be making 4 cars- a bmw m3 gtr, a ferrari 550 barchetta lm, and 2 of any random cars(of those crazy curvy ones... i think the gt league)

also im wodering the best way to make a track. what im thinking is to make a polly plane 4x4 divisions and extrude along a path which would be the shape of the track the go in and model the details by hand... if anyone else has a better way then please let me know even if im half way through modeling it'd be cool cause then i can try other types of tracks too.

ultimately this will just be used to kick start my portfolio i think it would be a good first entry.

EDIT: the Italian track i was thinking of was Monaco

I voted for the desert track, cause you can get some really cool lighting, dust and slipping cars.
more freedom then when you build an existing track (unless you really like Grand Prix and LeMans)

theres effects and particles for both

each one will have some sand and effects with it... the idea for laguna seca was for a car to go off course at the corkscrew and smash into a wall and well... pretty much shatter on impact. for the desert it was going to be a race through a sand duney section and a car would flip ans crash from a sand duneuser added image so if your thinking rally track because of the sand and effects needed you'll have to think of the phisics for each nowuser added image

Also, on pavement, there are usually chunks of rubber lying around from tires. You could animate these with a close up as the cars are swooshing by.

ya i was thinkin that too but if i get into too much detail itll destroy my computer. im gonna try to keep the track fairly low polly most of the charm of it will be uv mapping
