Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Can't planar map with subdivs.

I'm having a major problem where Maya, when I go to Subdiv Surfaces -> Texture -> Planar Mapping, it gives me the following error :

Current selection doesn't match required selection type.

This happens when I try to do it to :

Subdiv meshes
Subdiv primitives
Subdiv PLANES

If anyone has any info on this, much appreciated. ^_^

Just a thought but... Is the surface you're trying to planar map a SUB-D surface or a POLYGON surface? Current selection doesn't match required selection type usually means you're trying to do something that can't be done to that particular surface. Example... You're trying to sub-d texture a polygon. You gotta convert the poly to a sub-d first.

Figured it out. You need to select a few of the faces on the subdiv. You can't simply planar map an entire subdiv, regardless of its form.
