Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Specular with hard edge

How can I make the edge of a specular highlight hard, as opposed to a soft gradient. I want a glossy wet look.

The maya help file suggests adjusting the Blinn specular roll off. This seems only to affect the overall brightness.

I want my spec. to be a sharp white dot. Not a soft airbrush dot.

Adjusting roll off on a Blinn should work but I've found using a PHONG E shader and adusting its ROUGHNESS attribute to work very well. Set it at 2.0 or higher for a really sharp hotspot.
