raytracing problem

hi, does anyone know how to do selective raytracing?

i have an object within a scene and i dont want that specific object to be raytraced because all the colours and stuff mess up.

Any ideas?

To my knowlege, maya only raytraces objects set "visible in reflections" or "visible in refractions" -- so if its screwed up still -- something else is probably wrong.
