ok noob here. does anyone know how to model trees? or does everyone just use a prog for dat.

you can paint it if you want with the brushes or create it "by yourself"

Well, I would suggest using the paint tools. Make sure to customize it all, and then just convert->Paint to polygons. That makes it much easier to work with.
