Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

This is what i get when i render the same view....

Configuration

Windows 2k SP4
Radeon 9600 Pro
Maya 5.0

AMD 1333 C
2x256 Infineon RAM
Asus A7V266

Newest Bios etc..
Newest Drivers (Catalyst 3.9)
But it happened before with a Geforce 2, i thought it was a problem with the card but.. well you see user added image

When i apply more textures (Blinns(??)) then sometimes i get the same result after rendering!! This is horrific!! What did i do wrong!! Sometimes i get half-geometry-solid and the other half see-through, looks like a chess field user added image

Can someone help me with this strange view? user added image

That's weird. I've had geometry cancel out on me when applying textures, but then I just reapply the inital shader and it fixes it. Whatever your problem is, it has to do with the textures not your video card.

Try deleteing al history on the eyes and head. If you reapply the default shader to the eyes does the problem go away? If so, then check your textures. What file extention are you using? JPG, TGA, TIFF? Generally, I make all my textures TGA (targa). JPGs give funny results sometimes. Even the ones that work at first tend to cause problems later. Don't know why exactly, but they do.

Let us know if any of that helps.
