Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

High Poly Models

Is it possible convert a high poly model into sub divisons?

I couldd be wrong but the amount of faces allowed in polys in order to conver to subD is approximately 3000. Is there a way i can reduce the model w/out sacrificing much polies?

You can increase the number of faces in the convert to SubD options

well this is what i did, i just took my model in parts and cleaned up the model and it pretty much worked. user added image
I also increased the number of faces like u suggested. Much better user added image
