Make a tire?

What would be the best way to make a good looking tire.

If your familiar with the game halo im making a version of the vehicule called a warthog. The tires are usually big with lots of thick tread and so on.

I tried a few different ways. PM any tutorials or anything or a step by step here and itll help me out a lot.

hey i can make the basic round smooth edged part but not the tread or nothing. i figure the best way is this. create a NURBS cylinder (radius 5, sections 12, spans 6), rotate it to 90° on x and move and scale these cv's in the side view

or it could be easier to make a curve and revolve it

i know how to make a crude tire but to make a highly detailed one with thick tread i dont.

I think i recall somewhere reading fast you cane make a cylinder(such as a 20 sided poly one) and delete all but 1 section, make the tread in the section then duplicate it witht he correct rotation around the center point... but it kinda worked when i tried, thats the only way i could come to make a decent one so far.

Maybe i should just do it the long way and actually look and get som refs and so on.

But any info will be nice for further notice.

well in order to make the tread u gotta make the curve first for it.
then from the rop view move it over the cylinder after you have achieved ur shape. then project the curve onto the cylinder. then extrude the projection curve. then cut the shape out.

I'd create a row of tread and dupliate it around the tire's center to make the tread for the rest of the tire.

I'd use polys. user added image
