Its finaly here !!!!!

Check it out. This is short I know, but its purpose is to give a better understanding of how the hardware will move the robot.

for these its best to right click and "save target as"

Divx version click HERE.. you will need 5.2.1 or latter.

Quicktime 6 click HERE.. < this is for Danny. LOL sorry I don't have any expirance in encodeing quicktime so let me know if you have any problems or quality issues.

Pony, I'd say you've more than just corrected the jerky movement on the neck joints... Absolutely stunning improvements going on here. The animation of 'horsey' waving his head around is a real fruit of your labour - the mechanics look outstanding!

Cant wait to see another 'running' sample, hint hint user added image Fabulous work Pony good job.

Will you be adding mechanics for a nose, so it can snort? Would look great I think when it tilts its head up.

Hopesfall, user added image I'm using mentalRay, with only some white added to the environment on the camara and FG. Nothing special. I'm going to try to start using a dirtmap shader and get rid of the FG. It takes to long and still left nasty blockyness that is frustrating to the video codec.

Petrol, Thanks. I think it could use inprovement for more natural movements.. but it works good for this.. Thanks. LOL yes a very good gallop cycle will probably be done. I will be adding some mechanics to the face like nose, eyebrows, and ears. Probably consisting of flaps of rubber with tendons on them to change there shape. I don't think I will have time to add every little detail that I could. I need to get the basic's there and animate to show the use..

Wow this is so nice. I've been having personal relationship problems with 3D lately where it has felt a little dead to look at and sterile. Now I see why we spend all this time modeling things. Nice animation m8 and it really comes to life user added image

yes exactly, the whole point is for animation. If your just making a still image or 2, you can get much faster and better results by painting it in most cases. LOL

and its damn fun to see it move and be alive... I was doing the frankinstien inpersonation when I first played the gallop animation.. "its Alive, its Alive... " GF comes running in wondering what I"m going on about.. LOL

much eazier to get good looking still images also I have noticed. MR does good. So remember animation performace when picking your rendering engine.

Hey there surfermcd, umm complex, yeah, also gets very heavy quick . But its still nice to animate even though I put very simple controls on it. LOL well don't be so quiet, all C+C welcome. Thanks for the compliments.


Next update. Working on the ribs now. Yeah they look funny don't they, I was looking around on my references.. and their rib cage actualy does that.. gets flat and narrow between the front legs. Makes sense to me in hindsight though. Still working on them but here is the basic shape.

Well been a bit slow here. Ran into some rendering problems. Didn't realise how high the nurbs tubes were tesseling out. Thanks to KBrown for a nice solution for that.
